Although we had a horror bus ride to Luang Prabang, it was totally worth it. This beautiful village lies in the middle of north Laos, next to the mighty Mekong river. There are hundreds of stunning Temples all over Luang Prabang. The golden roofs and Buddhas are shining in the sun, you smell the incense sticks and hear the monks ringing with small bells. The atmosphere is breathtaking.
We liked Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham the most. It's the one on the first three pictures. Don't miss to go up to the small mountain Phou Si. There are a lot of golden Buddhas up there and the view over whole Luang Prabang and the Bamboo Bridge is so beautiful. Every morning at 5:45 a.m, the monks walk along the street with golden bowls and collecting gifts in form of food from the locals and the tourists. It's really nice to watch, but remember to act respectful and don't disturb them.
Later that day we rented a bike and drove to the Kuang Si Waterfall. Oh boy, we had never seen such a gorgeous waterfall before! The water was so clear and light blue, it was amazing! There are many spots where you can swim in it. Make sure to bring your swim wear with you ;-) Near the Waterfall there is also a bear park. They rescue captive bears and bring them in a bigger reservoire.
Luang Prabang is so wonderful. There are a lot of good restaurants and aapretty night marked, where you can buy very nice handmade things or just funny shirts of Lao Beer :-)

Obwohl wir eine Horror Busfahrt nach Luang Prabang hatten, hat es sich doch total gelohnt. Dieses wunderschöne Dorf liegt Mitten im Norden von Laos, neben dem mächtigen Fluss Mekong. Es gibt hunderte hinreissende Tempel, die in ganz Luang Prabang verteilt sind. Die goldenen Dächer und Buddhas scheinen in der Sonne, man riecht die Räucherstäbchen und hört die Mönche, wie sie kleine Glocken läuten lassen. Die Atmosphäre ist atemberaubend. Wir mochten Wat Mai Suwannaphumaham am meisten. Das ist jener auf den ersten drei Bilder. Vergesst nicht auf den kleinen Berg Phou Si zu gehen. Dort oben gibt es viele goldene Buddhas und die Aussicht über ganz Luang Prabang und die Bambusbrücke ist so traumhaft. Jeden morgen um 5:45 laufen die Mönche mit goldenen Schüsseln die Strasse entlang und sammeln Gaben in Form von Essen von den Einwohnern und den Touristen. Das ist sehr schön mit anzusehen, denkt aber daran euch respektvoll zu verhalten und sie nicht zu stören.
Später an diesem Tag mieteten wir uns einen Roller und fuhren zum Kuang Si Wasserfall. Oh Mann, wir hatten noch nie einen so wahnsinnig schönen Wasserfall gesehen! Das Wasser war ganz klar und hellblau, es war erstaunlich! Es gibt sehr viele Orte wo man auch schwimmen kann. Also unbedingt Badesachen mitbringen ;-) In der Nähe des Wasserfalls hat es auch einen Bärenpark. Sie retten gefangene Bären und bringen sie in ein grösseres Reservoir.
Luang Prabang ist so wunderschön. Es gibt sehr viele gute Restaurants und einen hübschen Nachtmarkt, wo man schöne handgemachte Dinge oder lustige Shirts von Lao Bier kaufen kann :-)
