Tips and tricks for Japan

Same as Southkorea, Japan is really easy to travel. (Thats what we heard from others) Tokyo is indeed a big city, but the directions are very clear and the people on the street are very friendly and helpful. There are only a few little things...

• There are a lot of different metro / railway companies. Most of them are seperated to two groups. The Toei Line and the Tokyo Metro Line. You can't just switch from Toei to Tokyo and then take again a Toei Line. Eighter ou only use the Toei or the Tokyo, otherwise you have to buy a new ticket on each transfer point. But don't worry, there are a lot of metro officers, who will help you. For good informations on your smartphone, download the 'Tokyo Subway' App. You can easily type in from where to where you like to go, and the app is looking for the best connection.

 

• Tokyo is full of free Wifi spots. If you download the app 'Travel Japan' it will automatically connect you with Wifi. You just have to give them your e-mail address. (I never got any spam or something) On the app you can also explore some places you like to go and you get offers from food or shopping companies.
• The springtime is surely a very nice time to go to Japan. But to be honest.. in Switzerland we also got very nice cherryblossom at this time and its never that crowdy. Next time we will go during summer. The hotelprices are also a bit cheaper during summer.

Gleich wie Südkorea ist Japan sehr einfach zum reisen. (Das ist jedenfalls was wir von den anderen gehört haben) Tokyo ist natürlich eine grosse Stadt, aber die Wegbeschreibungen sind sehr einfach beschrieben und die Menschen auf der Strasse sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Da gibt es nur ein paar Kleinigkeiten...

• Es gibt sehr viele verschiedene Metro / Zugfahrtsgesellschaften. Die meisten davon sind in zwei Gruppen unterteilt. Die Toei Line und die Tokyo Metro Line (Siehe Bild oben). Man kann nicht einfach von der Toei zur Tokyo wechseln und dann wieder zurück auf die Toei umsteigen. Entweder nuzt man nur die Toei oder die Tokyo Line, ansonsten muss man bei jedem Umsteigeort ein neues Ticket kaufen. Aber keine Sorge, es stehen sehr viele Metrobeamten bereit um zu helfen. Für gute Informationen auf dem Smartphone, downloadet einfach die 'Tokyo Subway' App. Man kann einfach eintippen von wo nach wo man fahren möchte und die App findet die beste Verbindung.
• Tokyo ist voller gratis WiFi Stellen. Wenn ihr euch die App 'Travel Japan' herunterlädt, werdet ihr automatisch mit dem Wifi verbunden. Ihr müsst ihnen einfach nur eure E-Mail Adresse angeben. (Hab noch nie irgendwelchen Spam oder so bekommen) Auf dieser App könnt ihr auch einige Orte entdecken, die ihr gerne besuchen möchtet und man bekommt Rabatte von Restaurants und diversen Läden.
• Der Frühling ist sicher eine sehr tolle Zeit um nach Japan zu reisen. Aber ehrlich gesagt... in der Schweiz haben wir auch schöne Kirschblüten zu dieser Zeit und es ist niemals so Menschenüberfüllt. Das nächste Mal werden wir im Sommer gehen. Die Hotelpreise sind auch etwas günstiger während des Sommers.
