Flores

We took a small minivan from the Guatemala border and drove one hour to Flores. Flores is the capital of Petén, Guatemalas northernmost province. When the Itza (the Guatemalan people of a Maya affilation) left their big city Chichen Itza in the 13th century, they came to this peaceful place and build their new city on the island of Lake Petén Itza.
The city is very colourful and there are a lot of Restaurants and Backpackers. It's extremly quiet and almost boring here. But we enjoyed our stay here a lot. We had plenty of time to relax and plan our Guatemala and further Southamerica tour. Soon we will go to the bus, that will bring us to Guatemala-City. It's another 9 hour busride. Yayy :-D

Wir nahmen einen kleinen Minivan von der Guatemaltekischen Grenze und fuhren eine Stunde nach Flores. Flores ist die Hauptstadt von Petén, Guatemalas nördlichste Provinz. Als die Itza (die guatelamtekischen Menschen einer Maya zugehörigkeit) im 13. Jahrhundert ihre grosse Stadt Chichen Itza verliessen, kamen sie zu diesem friedlichen Ort und bildeten ihre neue Stadt auf der Insel des Sees Petén Itza.
Die Stadt ist sehr bunt und es gibt viele Restaurants und Backpacker. Es ist extrem ruhig und schon fast ein wenig langweilig hier. Aber wir genossen unseren Aufenthalt hier sehr. Wir hatten viel Zeit zum entspannen und unsere Guatemala und spätere Südamerika Reise zu planen. Schon bald gehen wir zum Bus, welchen uns nach Guatemala Stadt bringt. Eine weitere 9 Stunden Busfahrt. Juhuu :-D
