Asuncion

It was not the end of our never ending and exhausting traveling, until we finally found our Hotel. We saw that the Hotel prices are very high at Asuncion. There was almost nothing under 20 $ that was not a dirty hole. Therefore, we quickly made a reservation for a nice one that had limited rooms. We needed to get there by Taxi, but because we had no Paraguayan Guarani, the driver just drove us to a square, where some men changed our Argentinean Peso to Guarani. Then he just told us the directions to the Hotel. We walked for about 2 hours with our heavy backpacks, until we found the Hotel. The address on the booking confirmation was wrong and we had to ask a lot of people on the street. After we found it, we were very tired and sweaty. It was about 40°C at Asuncion that day!

We let the days go by and were very lazy. One day we spent by walking around the city and saw some interesting things. We walked along the Costanera Jose Asuncion Flores to get a nice picture of the Asuncion sign and the Palacio de Lopez. Right next to this palace is the Catedral de Asuncion. My favourite place was the Loma san Jeronimo Neighbourhood. It’s one of the most colourful neighbourhoods at Asuncion. The houses and stairs are painted in many different colours and there are many awesome graffities on the walls. This area was so alive! Then we tried the typical Paraguayan Chipa. It’s a hard and very dry cheese bagel, which the locals like to eat with Tea or Coffee. At the end of this lovely day and as a way to finish this unbelievable great world trip we went to the Hard Rock Café to eat Dinner.

Es war noch nicht das Ende unserer endlosen und erschöpfenden Reise, bis wir endlich unser Hotel gefunden haben. Wir sahen, dass die Hotelpreise in Asuncion sehr hoch sind. Es gab fast nichts unter Fr. 20.- das nicht gerade ein dreckiges Loch war. Darum machten wir schnell eine Reservation bei einem schönen Hotel, welches nur noch limitierte Zimmer hatte. Wir mussten dort mit dem Taxi hin, aber weil wir keine Paraguayische Guarani hatten, fuhr uns der Fahrer nur zu einem Platz, wo uns einige Männer unsere Argentinischen Peso in Guarani wechselten. Dann erklärte er uns nur noch in welcher Richtung wir das Hotel finden. Während 2 Stunden liefen wir mit unseren schweren Rucksäcken umher, bis wir das Hotel gefunden haben. Die Adresse auf der Buchungsbestätigung war falsch und wir mussten viele Leute auf der Strasse fragen. Nachdem wir es gefunden haben waren wir sehr müde und verschwitzt. Es war an diesem Tag etwa 40°C in Asuncion!

Wir liessen die Tage an uns vorbeiziehen und waren sehr faul. Am einten Tag liefen wir in der Stadt umher und sahen einige interessante Dinge. Wir liefen entlang der Costanera Jose Asuncion Flores um ein schönes Bild vom Asuncion Schriftzug und dem Palacio de Lopez zu machen. Gerade neben diesem Palast ist die Catedral de Asuncion. Mein Lieblings Ort war die Loma san Jeronimo Nachbarschaft. Es ist eine der farbigsten Nachbarschaften in Asuncion. Die Häuser und Treppen waren alle in verschiedenen Farben gestrichen und es gab viele tolle Graffitis an den Wänden. Dieses Viertel war so lebendig! Dann probierten wir das typisch paraguayische Chipa. Das ist ein harter und sehr trockener Käsekringel, welchen die Einwohner zu Tee oder Kaffee essen. Am Ende von diesem wundervollen Tag und als eine Art Abschluss von dieser unglaublich tollen Weltreise, gingen wir ins Hard Rock Café zum Abendessen.
