Bogotá

Because we landed late at night at Bogotá, we booked a nearby Hotel and took a Taxi to get there. In the next morning, we took the bus to the central to find a nearer Hotel. There we meet Patrick, a Swiss guy, and talked for hours together. Then we visited the Palacia de San Francisco, Catedral Primada de Bogotá, Plaza de Boliviar and the government building Casa de Nariño.
The next day we went to visit the mount Monserrate. We were there at 9 a.m. and the queue in front of the ticket box for the funicular was already huge. After one hour waiting time (that’s more than I waited once for the Eiffel tower at Paris) we could finally buy our tickets and enter the funicular. The people were so excited, but for us Swiss guys this is nothing new for us :-D The only difference: we are 3152 meters above the sea level! We felt a bit dizzy and our heads seem to explode. As soon as we saw the stunning view over the city we forgot about all this pain. Bogotá is a massive city! There is a big church, souvenir shops and restaurants on top of the mountain. It was very nice to just enjoy the view and stroll along the souvenir shops. They sell coca cookies and tea against the dizziness :-)
After this nice morning excursion, we visited the Museo del Oro, the gold Museum, in the afternoon. Legends say, that El Dorado should we around Bogotá. Well we know, this Museum is El Dorado. There were tons of golden jewellery, decoration, pots and toys. It was amazing!! We also saw a gold decoration of the legendary ship, with which the king drove into the lake to sacrifice more gold and jewels.
Our next destination is Guatapé, which is 430 km away from Bogotá. The streets are extremely curvy and a lot of people told us that this is the road of hell. Mhmm... Where else did we hear that? Oh yes, Laos! We didn't believe the other travellers and took the horror bus from Vietnam to Laos. In the end, everybody was vomiting and it was hell on earth. In this case the bus ride is also about 12 hours. We decided to go the easier way and believe these people. There were some very cheap flights for 40 $ to Medellin, and from there we could take a bus. For us, that sounded just right. For our healthy, we do everything needed... See you guys at Guatapé!

Wir buchten ein nahegelegenes Hotel, weil wir sehr spät in der Nacht in Bogotá landeten und nahmen uns ein Taxi dort hin. Am nächsten Morgen gingen wir mit dem Bus ins Zentrum um ein näheres Hotel zu finden. Dort lernten wir den Schweizer Patrick kennen und redeten stundenlang miteinander. Dann besuchten wir den Palacia de San Francisco, Catedral Primada de Bogotá, Plaza de Boliviar und das Rathaus Casa de Nariño.
Am nächsten Tag gingen wir zum Berg Monserrate. Wir waren um 9:00 Uhr dort und die Schlange vor dem Ticketschalter war bereits riesig. Nach einer Stunde Wartezeit (das ist länger als ich damals vor dem Eiffelturm in Paris wartete) konnten wir endlich unsere Tickets kaufen und in die Drahtseilbahn einsteigen. Die Leute waren so aufgeregt aber für uns Schweizer ist das nichts Neues :-D  Der einzige Unterschied: Wir sind 3'152 müM! Uns war etwas Schwindlig und unsere Köpfe schienen zu explodieren. Sobald wir aber die überwältigende Aussicht sahen vergassen wir den ganzen Schmerz. Bogotá ist eine gigantische Stadt! Es hatte eine grosse Kirche, Souvenirläden und Restaurants auf dem Berggipfel. Es war sehr schön einfach nur die Aussicht zu geniessen und durch die Souvenirläden zu spazieren. Sie verkaufen dort Koka Kekse und Tee gegen den Schwindel :-)
Nach diesem schönen Morgenausflug besuchten wir am Nachmittag das Museo del Oro, das Gold Museum. Legenden sagen, dass El Dorado irgendwo bei Bogotá sein soll. Also wir wissen, dass dieses Museum El Dorado ist. Da gab es Tonnen von goldenem Schmuck, Dekorationen, Töpfe und Spielzeug. Es war unglaublich!! Wir sahen auch eine goldene Dekoration vom legendären Schiff, mit welchem der König auf den See fuhr um noch mehr Gold und Juwelen zu opfern.
Unsere nächste Destination ist Guatapé, welche 430 km von Bogotá entfernt liegt. Die Strassen sind extrem kurvig und viele Leute erzählten uns, dass das die Strasse der Hölle ist. Mhmm... Wo haben wir das auch schon mal gehört? Ach ja, stimmt... Laos! Wir glaubten den anderen Reisenden nicht und nahmen den Horrorbus von Vietnam nach Laos. Am Ende waren alle am Kotzen und es war die Hölle auf Erden. In diesem Falle ist die Busfahrt auch etwa 12 Stunden lang. Wir entschieden uns für den einfacheren Weg und glaubten den Leuten. Es gab ein paar richtig günstige Flüge für 40 CHF nach Medellín, und von da können wir mit dem Bus weiter. Für uns klang das genau richtig. Für unsere Gesundheit machen wir alles was notwendig ist... Wir sehn uns dann in Guatapé!
